ARHI and Principal Investigator Dr. Julian J. Javier Contribute to Groundbreaking Stem Cell Clinical Trial for Aging Frailty Published in Cell Stem Cell
Naples, FL — [March 04th, 2026] — Advanced Research for Health Improvement (ARHI) is proud to announce the publication of a major clinical research study in Cell Stem Cell (Cell Press), titled “Randomized phase 2b dose-escalation trial of stem cell therapy with laromestrocel for aging frailty”. ARHI and our Principal Investigator, Dr. Julian J. Javier, played a significant role in this landmark Phase 2b clinical trial that provides new evidence supporting the potential of regenerative cell therapy to improve physical function in individuals living with age-related clinical frailty.
This randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study evaluated the efficacy of laromestrocel — an investigational human bone-marrow-derived allogeneic mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) product — in 148 ambulatory older adults with frailty (ClinicalTrials.gov #NCT03169231).
Key Cell Stem Cell findings include:
• A clinically meaningful improvement in physical endurance, with participants receiving laromestrocel showing a significant increase in 6-minute walk test (6MWT) distance at 9 months compared with placebo.
• The change in walking distance correlated with improvements in patient-reported physical function, reinforcing the therapy’s real-world impact on mobility and quality of life.
• Higher doses of laromestrocel were associated with reductions in a candidate biomarker (soluble TIE-2), suggesting a potential biological mechanism linked to responsiveness.
This publication marks an important milestone in regenerative medicine for age-associated frailty — a major unmet medical need with significant implications for healthy aging and public health.
“Participating in this study underscores ARHI’s commitment to advancing regenerative and translational science that has the potential to improve healthspan in aging populations,” said Dr. Julian J. Javier, Principal Investigator and Board-Certified Interventional Cardiology Specialist. “The outcomes reported in Cell Stem Cell support the promise of stem cell-based therapeutics to meaningfully enhance functional capacity in patients affected by frailty.”
ARHI remains deeply involved in clinical research initiatives that seek to transform therapeutic options for chronic and age-related conditions. This latest publication demonstrates the organization’s dedication to evidence-based innovation and collaboration with leading scientists and industry partners.
